The CATMAT project is comprised of three interlinked work packages

WP1: UNDERSTANDING HIGH ENERGY DENSITY CATHODES
(Led by Peter Bruce)
- Determine failure processes: O-redox, Ni-rich, disorderd rocksalts
- New knowledge to inform discovery of novel cathodes
- Taken toward scale up & cell testing
- Overcome problems: 1st cycle V loss, V fade, O loss, interfacial instability

WP2: MATERIALS DISCOVERY & SYNTHESIS
(Led by Peter Slater)
- Explore new O-redox, O-F, S-redox
- Discover cathodes by exploring new structual motifs
- Interface stabilisation: core-shell approach
- Integrated approach: experimental-computational synergy

WP3: COATINGS, ADDITIVES, SCALE-UP & CELL DESIGN
(Led by Emma Kendrick)
- Connect basic sci to manufacturing using new cathodes (WP1&2)
- Optimise with coating & morphology control & full cell demo
- Materials manufacturing for batch scale synthesis
